Charles M’Mombwa on the scoresheet for Tanzania in African Nations Cup
Nigeria did not have an easy task as they edged past Tanzania with a 2–1 win. Despite fielding a squad that includes several players of proven quality plying their trade in European leagues, the Super Eagles were made to work hard for the result.
Nigeria took the lead in the 36th minute through Semi Ajayi, appearing to take control of the encounter. However, early in the second half, Tanzania responded when Floriana striker Charles M’Mombwa found the net to restore parity.
The joy of the equaliser was short-lived, as Nigeria regained the lead just two minutes later courtesy of Ademola Lookman, whose goal ultimately proved decisive and secured all three points for his side.
