Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur played out an attritional 0-0 draw at the Gtech Stadium, leaving the Bees still searching for their first home Premier League victory against Spurs after five attempts (D4, L1).

Thomas Frank returned to his former ground with mixed emotions, facing a Brentford side that have grown increasingly formidable at home. The Bees had won six of their nine Premier League home games heading into the match and briefly thought they had a seventh when Kevin Schade prodded the ball home from close range—only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

The remainder of the first half was a tactical battle. Brentford dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances, while Spurs offered little going forward. Richarlison crafted a promising opening, finding Archie Gray, whose header was blocked by Nathan Collins before Richarlison’s follow-up went wide. Schade and Igor Thiago both failed to convert opportunities for Brentford late in the half, leaving Keane Lewis-Potter waiting for a better connection.

The second half saw signs of life from both sides. Mohammed Kudus’ looping left-footed shot went over the bar, and Lewis-Potter scuffed a close-range attempt after a clever pass from Yehor Yarmolyuk. Brentford continued to push, with Guglielmo Vicario parrying Vitaly Janelt’s header from a Henderson cross and Thiago firing over from Michael Kayode’s delivery.

Ultimately, neither side could break the deadlock in a contest that will be quickly forgotten for its lack of excitement. Brentford move up to ninth with the hard-earned point, continuing to be difficult to beat at home, while Spurs leapfrogged Newcastle United into 12th in a domestic campaign that has so far fallen short of expectations.

Frank will take some comfort in his side keeping consecutive Premier League clean sheets for the first time since August, even if the game lacked the thrills fans had hoped for.
