Brandon Ingram to step in for Steph Curry at NBA All-Star game

Toronto Raptors guard Brandon Ingram will replace injured Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry in Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles, the league announced Tuesday.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver selected Ingram after Curry was ruled out with a lingering right knee injury that has sidelined the 37-year-old for four consecutive games. Curry had originally been chosen for his 12th All-Star appearance.
Ingram, 28, earns his second career All-Star nod. He is averaging 22.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season, continuing to play a key role for Toronto. His first All-Star selection came in 2020, the same season he captured the NBA’s Most Improved Player award.
Curry’s withdrawal also denies fans a reunion of three central figures from Team USA’s gold medal-winning run at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He had been set to join Olympic teammates LeBron James and Kevin Durant on the USA Stripes squad.
This year’s revamped All-Star format features two all-American teams facing a squad of international stars in a round-robin mini-tournament, with the top two teams advancing to a championship game.
The All-Star Game, along with Saturday night’s festivities — including the Slam Dunk Contest — will be held at the Intuit Dome, home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
