The race for the BOV Challenge League title tightened significantly on Sunday, 8 February 2026, as Melita secured a pivotal 2-0 victory over league leaders Balzan at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Jesus Yepez was the hero for Melita, opening the scoring early in the 12th minute. He later ensured the three points by converting a penalty in the 75th minute. The result sees Melita leapfrog Birżebbuġa into second place, narrowing the gap behind Balzan to just three points.

Swieqi and Pietà Claim Dominant Victories

In the other afternoon fixture at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Swieqi United defeated Gudja United 2-0. Kian Leonardi provided the difference, netting his first in the 20th minute before doubling the lead from the penalty spot just before the half-time whistle.

Meanwhile, at the Centenary Stadium, Pietà Hotspurs delivered a clinical performance to dismantle Mtarfa 6-0. Arthur Stelmach stole the headlines with a hat-trick (17’, 34’, and a 73’ penalty). Further goals from Jeremy Micallef (45’), James Brincat (47’), and Jake Borg (76’) rounded off the emphatic win. 

Stalemate at the Centenary Stadium

The clash between Vittoriosa Stars and Marsa ended in a 1-1 draw. Marsa took an early lead through Gabriel Cruz in the 4th minute, but Renan Sgaria Farias rescued a point for Vittoriosa by converting a penalty in the 13th minute.
