Bayern cruise past Heidenheim to maintain red-hot form

Bayern Munich closed out the Bundesliga’s 2025 calendar year in emphatic fashion, cruising to a comfortable 4-0 victory over struggling Heidenheim, who head into the winter break in an automatic relegation spot and remain the league’s only side yet to keep a clean sheet.
The hosts’ familiar defensive frailties were exposed inside the opening 15 minutes as Bayern turned sustained pressure into the opening goal. Michael Olise’s corner was floated to the far post, Jonathan Tah headed it back across goal, and Josip Stanisic was on hand to nod in from point-blank range.
Heidenheim briefly threatened a response, perhaps inspired by their dramatic 3-2 comeback against Bayern in this fixture last April. Jonas Föhrenbach’s inviting cross caused problems, but Luca Kerber was unable to apply the finishing touch.
Despite appearing unusually blunt in attack, Bayern doubled their advantage through another scrappy sequence. Diant Ramaj collided with a teammate while attempting to clear Lennart Karl’s delivery, allowing Hiroki Ito to square the ball across goal. Olise arrived perfectly to volley home from close range, extending Bayern’s all-time Bundesliga record to 23 consecutive league matches scoring at least twice.
Frank Schmidt acted swiftly at the break, introducing the league’s top-scoring substitute Stefan Schimmer, and Heidenheim enjoyed a livelier second half. Harry Kane struck the post for Bayern, but Schimmer responded by heading against the crossbar. Arijon Ibrahimović then blazed over from a promising position, before Schimmer fired straight at Jonas Urbig when clean through.
Any hope of a late Heidenheim surge — something they have become known for this season — was extinguished as Bayern added two more goals. Luis Díaz stooped to head home Stanisic’s cross, before Kane capped the performance with a clever finish inside the far post after creating space superbly.
The victory sees Bayern equal the best-ever 15-game start to a Bundesliga season and set a new league record with 55 goals at this stage of the campaign.
For Heidenheim, the picture remains bleak, but with just three points separating them from automatic safety and two wins from their last four league outings, Schmidt will believe survival — and a fourth straight Bundesliga season — is still within reach.
