Bank of Valletta has officially announced the extension of its longstanding support to the Malta Football Association by backing the competitions of the MFA’s 8 Member Associations. This initiative reaffirms the Bank’s commitment to community wellbeing, youth development, and inclusive participation in sport.
The supported competitions include:

- Inter Amateur Soccer Competition (IASC)
The announcement was made during a media event held in the presence of representatives from all eight associations. The event was addressed by Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta, and Matthew Paris, Vice President of the Malta Football Association, in the presence of Lawrence Aquilina, President of the Member Associations Standing Committee, highlighting the shared vision of promoting grassroots football and strengthening community ties through sport.

‘At Bank of Valletta, we believe that football is much more than a sport—it is a catalyst for personal growth, community cohesion, and national pride. Our support for these eight Member Association competitions reflects our deep commitment to nurturing talent, encouraging healthier lifestyles, and promoting inclusivity across all age groups,’ said the BOV COO. ‘Whether it’s a young player taking their first steps on the pitch, an employee finding balance through sport, or a veteran continuing to inspire through lifelong participation, football has the power to unite and uplift. We are proud to stand alongside the Malta Football Association in making football truly accessible for all, and in doing so, contributing to a stronger, more resilient Malta.’
Commenting on the agreement, Dr Paris remarked: “Recreational football is a key pillar for the Malta Football Association, forming the heart of community football across the islands. The Malta FA invests approximately €130,000 annually to ensure that all recreational matches are played in safe facilities equipped with top-quality artificial pitches.”

This initiative marks yet another strong commitment by Bank of Valletta towards promoting healthier lifestyles, advancing its ESG objectives, and reinforcing its role as an active and responsible member of the community. Through its partnership with the Malta Football Association and its Member Associations, the Bank continues to support initiatives that reflect its core values and contribute meaningfully to the social fabric of Maltese society.
