Atlético Madrid’s Robin Le Normand Injured in Champions League Victory

Atlético Madrid defender Robin Le Normand has sustained a serious injury to the back of his left knee during the club’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Union Saint-Gilloise, the LaLiga side confirmed on Wednesday.
The Spain international was forced off midway through the first half of Tuesday’s home fixture against the Belgian side after a collision with a Saint-Gilloise player left him visibly in pain.
Medical examinations revealed that the injury resulted from a hyperextension of the joint.
“Further assessment conducted on Wednesday confirmed a high-grade injury to the posterior capsule and the semimembranosus muscle, while the ligaments and meniscus remain unaffected,” Atlético stated.
According to Spanish media reports, the 28-year-old could be sidelined for at least a month. This timeline would rule him out of Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Georgia on November 15 and Atlético’s Champions League home clash with Inter Milan on November 26.
