Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber Urges Premier League Leaders to Stay Grounded

On a weekend when title rivals Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea all slipped up, Arsenal capitalised in style, defeating Crystal Palace 1–0 to move four points clear at the top of the Premier League — and six ahead of City.
The narrow victory marked Arsenal’s seventh consecutive win in all competitions, capping off a superb week in which Mikel Arteta’s side also thrashed Atletico Madrid 4–0 in the Champions League to record their third straight European victory.
The Gunners’ blistering form has reignited belief among supporters that the club could finally end their two-decade wait for a Premier League title, having last been crowned champions in 2003/04.
Timber: “We Must Stay Neutral and Not Get Too High”
Despite the growing optimism, defender Jurrien Timber has urged his teammates to remain calm and focused amid mounting title talk.
“It’s good to stay neutral and not get too high,” Timber said. “Obviously we’ve been doing well, but it’s still early in the season. We just have to keep improving game by game.”
The 24-year-old Netherlands international was quick to shift focus to the upcoming fixtures, with Arsenal facing Brighton in the League Cup before a tough Premier League trip to Burnley.
“The next game is already in three days, and the next league match will be tough as well,” he added. “So we need to keep our feet on the ground, keep working hard, and see where it takes us.”
Rock-Solid Defence Behind Arsenal’s Rise
Arsenal’s success so far has been built on a formidable defence. The Gunners have conceded just three goals in 13 matches across all competitions this season and have now kept five consecutive clean sheets.
“Everyone plays a part in it, and it’s a good foundation to build on,” Timber said. “From that standard, you have to keep getting better and stay consistent. If you can maintain that level for multiple games, it shows you’re doing things right.”
The Dutchman believes Arsenal’s defensive resilience has boosted confidence throughout the squad.
“It gives you belief and shows that we’re on the right track,” he continued. “We just need to keep improving, take that feeling forward, and go into every game with the same mindset.”
With momentum on their side and composure their message, Arsenal look determined to turn their strong start into something truly special this season.
