Arsenal cruise past Wigan as Leeds, Wolves, Fulham, and Sunderland advance in FA Cup

Arsenal raced to a 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over League One Wigan Athletic on Sunday, scoring all four goals inside the opening 27 minutes, while Leeds United needed penalties, Wolverhampton Wanderers battled a mud-soaked pitch, and Fulham and Sunderland also advanced.
In North London, any hopes of a Wigan upset were quickly dashed. Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli both scored from Eberechi Eze assists before defender Jack Hunt added an own goal. Gabriel Jesus completed the scoring just before the half-hour mark, though Wigan tightened up defensively afterward to prevent further damage.
Leeds required a shoot-out to progress after Patrick Roberts’ late screamer for Birmingham cancelled out Lukas Nmecha’s first-half opener. Leeds converted all their penalties, while Tommy Doyle’s effort was saved by Lucas Perri and Roberts missed the target, giving Daniel Farke’s side a 4-2 shoot-out win.
Wolverhampton, struggling in the Premier League, overcame fourth-tier Grimsby Town 1-0 on a waterlogged pitch resembling the muddy conditions of yesteryear. Santiago Bueno scored on the hour by redirecting a Joao Gomes cross past goalkeeper Jackson Smith. Grimsby, who famously eliminated Manchester United from the League Cup this season, only threatened with Andy Cook’s late header.
Fulham, making several changes, came from behind to defeat Championship side Stoke City 2-1 thanks to goals from Kevin and Harrison Reed, halting a run of three successive defeats.
Sunderland also reached the fifth round with a narrow 1-0 victory at struggling Oxford United, with Habib Diarra’s first-half penalty proving decisive for Regis Le Bris’ side.
