Sassuolo came from behind to beat Udinese 2-1 at the Stadio Friuli, earning back-to-back Serie A away wins for the Neroverdi.

Both sides have largely settled into mid-table obscurity this season, with neither facing a relegation threat nor pushing for European qualification. Despite this, the home fans had reason for optimism when Oumar Solet put Udinese ahead in the 10th minute, converting Jurgen Ekkelenkamp’s pass with a right-footed strike past Arijanet Muric.

Sassuolo gradually grew into the game, with chances falling to Lennon Miller and Nicolo Zaniolo, though the visitors struggled to break down Udinese’s defence. Kristian Thorstvedt had a clear opportunity but fired straight at Maduka Okoye from Josh Doig’s cross.

Sassuolo’s momentum built before halftime, with Thorstvedt heading wide from Armand Lauriente’s corner. Lauriente continued to shine on the left, and his surging runs created the equaliser: Andrea Pinamonti cleverly backheeled the ball to Lauriente, who fired home a well-worked goal.

Sassuolo completed the turnaround two minutes later, with Pinamonti’s header, guided off the post from Ulisses Garcia’s cross, giving the visitors the lead. Udinese thought they had equalised through Nicolo Bertola, but VAR disallowed the goal for handball in the build-up.

Udinese ultimately fell to consecutive defeats, dropping to 10th in the table, while Sassuolo leapfrogged them into ninth with this comeback victory.
