Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has insisted the club will not panic in the January transfer window, despite acknowledging the need to strengthen the squad.

Amorim said United are open to adding players next month but stressed that any recruitment must fit the club’s long-term vision rather than serve as a short-term fix.

“We have space to bring in more players, but at this club it is very important that we have a clear plan and that we sign players we truly know,” Amorim said.

“It’s impossible to guarantee that everything will work, but we need to be confident about the players we bring in. If we are not sure, then it is better not to sign anyone and to work with the players we already have. That is very clear for me.”

The Portuguese coach added that lessons from previous transfer windows had shaped his approach, with patience preferred over repeating past mistakes.

“Maybe my thinking is different from many managers, but it is also the thinking of the board,” he explained. “We cannot make the same mistakes we made in the past. We need to get through these moments because we have players coming back from international duty and European competitions.”
