Lyon secure loan signing of Real Madrid forward Endrick
Lyon have confirmed the signing of Real Madrid forward Endrick after agreeing a loan deal that will see the Brazilian spend the remainder of the season with the Ligue 1 side.
The French club announced the move with a cryptic message — “This year, Christmas comes on December 23” — alongside a 36-second video featuring a hooded figure appearing at various locations around Lyon before revealing Endrick as their new arrival.
Endrick had reached an agreement several weeks ago to join Lyon on a six-month loan after it became apparent he was not part of Xabi Alonso’s immediate plans at Real Madrid. The two clubs continued to negotiate the final details of the deal up until hours before its official confirmation.
Lyon had hoped to include an option to make the move permanent, but Real Madrid rejected that request, maintaining their belief that Endrick can still play an important role in the future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The 18-year-old is set to link up with his new teammates on December 29, with Lyon paying a loan fee of around €1 million for his services.
