Jalen Brunson delivered a season-best performance with 47 points as the New York Knicks defeated the Miami Heat 132–125 on Sunday.

The Knicks’ star guard also contributed eight assists and three rebounds in the highest-scoring game of his career at Madison Square Garden, capping another impressive night for the in-form New York side.

The victory was the Knicks’ eighth in nine games, improving their Eastern Conference record to 20–8 and leaving them second in the standings behind the Detroit Pistons. Their recent surge includes last week’s NBA Cup triumph, which ended a 52-year wait for silverware.

Miami, meanwhile, continue to struggle. Kel’el Ware led the Heat with 28 points and 19 rebounds, but the loss was their seventh in eight games, dropping them to 15–14.

Elsewhere, the Chicago Bulls edged out the Atlanta Hawks 152–150 in the highest-scoring NBA game of the season, holding off a late Hawks rally in a thrilling finish.

Jalen Johnson poured in 36 points and Trae Young added 35 for Atlanta, but it was not enough to deny the Bulls, who were paced by 28 points from Matas Buzelis.

In the night’s other action, the San Antonio Spurs claimed a 124–113 win over the struggling Washington Wizards. French sensation Victor Wembanyama scored 14 points off the bench as his minutes continue to be managed following his return from injury.
