Manchester City made it three consecutive away wins with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace, extending their unbeaten run in Premier League away head-to-heads against the Eagles to 11 matches.

Still feeling the effects of their midweek European commitments, City began at a measured pace, with the contest slow to ignite in the opening stages.

The first genuine chance arrived after 15 minutes when Adam Wharton threaded a clever pass through to Yéremy Pino. With Gianluigi Donnarumma quick off his line, the Palace winger could only rattle the crossbar with his effort.

Palace were enjoying the better spell of the match and went close again soon after. Ismaïla Sarr, making his return, whipped a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but Jean-Philippe Mateta was unable to apply the finishing touch from close range.

Clear-cut opportunities remained scarce throughout the first half, with both sides struggling to create sustained pressure. City’s first meaningful attempt came from a set-piece, as Phil Foden bent a free-kick around the wall, only for Dean Henderson to parry the ball away.

As is so often the case, City eventually found their breakthrough. Erling Haaland rose highest at the far post to power home a header from Matheus Nunes’ cross, underlining his knack for delivering when it matters.

Palace emerged with renewed intent after the interval and almost found an equaliser when Wharton struck the woodwork from distance. At the other end, Tijjani Reijnders tested Henderson with a firm effort that required an excellent one-handed save.

City soon asserted their control, and it was Foden who doubled the advantage. Driving through the heart of the pitch, he finished clinically into the bottom corner to put the visitors firmly in charge.

In search of a way back, Oliver Glasner shuffled his pack late on, replacing Nathaniel Clyne with Christantus Uche as Palace pushed forward. That ambition left space at the back, and City capitalised when Savinho burst clear and was brought down by Henderson in the penalty area.

Haaland duly converted from the spot, sending Henderson the wrong way to complete the scoring and cap another impressive afternoon in the capital. The result keeps City firmly on the heels of Premier League leaders Arsenal, while Palace miss the opportunity to return to the top four, though they remain just two points adrift.
