Gyokeres confident Arsenal can bounce back after last-minute Villa defeat

Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres urged the Premier League leaders to quickly move on after Saturday’s heartbreaking 2–1 defeat at Aston Villa, where Emiliano Buendia’s 95th-minute winner ended the Gunners’ 18-match unbeaten streak.
Villa’s victory — their ninth in 10 games — has closed the gap at the top of the table, putting added pressure on Mikel Arteta’s side.
“It’s football. If you score in the last few seconds or minutes, that is an unbelievable feeling, so it goes both ways,” Gyokeres said, according to Arsenal’s website. “Today, unfortunately, it was the other way. It’s tough, but you learn from it. You can always find some positives, but it’s still a very difficult way to lose a football game.”
Despite the setback, Arsenal remain top of the table, though Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are now just two points behind following their 3–0 win over Sunderland, with Villa three points off the summit.
“We are, of course, disappointed with the result,” the Swedish striker added. “It’s not a great feeling right now, but it’s only December, and there are a lot of games to play. If we focus on what we can control and do in our favour and focus on the next game, we’ll be better.”
Arsenal’s next fixture is a Champions League clash with Club Brugge on Wednesday, followed by a Premier League home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers next Sunday.
