Barcelona overwhelm Betis in first-half blitz during 8-goal spectacle

Barcelona stretched their unbeaten run against Real Betis to 10 matches — claiming an eighth win within that sequence — after a pulsating 5–3 LaLiga triumph at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
The contest began chaotically, with both sides gifting possession away, and Barcelona were punished for some early defensive disarray. A lapse at the back allowed Antony to slip through unchecked, and he blasted home inside five minutes despite strong suspicions of offside.
Barcelona quickly shook off the setback, wresting control of the game soon after. A slick team move culminated in Ferran Torres drilling a precise low finish into the corner to level the score. Merely moments later, the visitors completed the turnaround, as Roony Bardghji’s cross was met by a spectacular acrobatic volley from Torres — his second goal in quick succession.
Betis tried to respond, relying on the pace of Ez Abde and Antony to threaten on the counter, but clear chances were scarce. Barcelona continued to tighten their grip, and Bardghji grabbed his first LaLiga goal by bursting past two defenders and beating Álvaro Vallés at the near post. The lead grew again before halftime when Torres’ hopeful strike took a wicked deflection off Marc Bartra, wrong-footing Vallés to make it 4–1 — remarkably from just Ferran’s 12th touch of the half.
Barcelona nearly struck again straight after the break, but Marcus Rashford dragged his attempt wide. Lamine Yamal also tormented the home defence, though he failed to convert when clean through on Vallés.
Controversy soon followed. A lengthy VAR check resulted in a penalty to Barcelona, despite the ball clearly bouncing off Bartra’s body before clipping his arm. Lamine stepped up and coolly rolled his effort into the net to extend the lead further.
Even with victory assured, Barcelona continued to waste good opportunities, including a baffling missed three-on-one break. Abde’s miscued effort at the other end summed up Betis’ frustrations, while Antony forced a strong save from Joan García and later had a goal disallowed. Torres came close to his hat-trick too, rattling the frame of the goal.
Some consolation arrived late on for the hosts, as Diego Llorente tapped in from a corner and Cucho Hernández converted a penalty to reduce the deficit. But by then, the outcome had long been sealed.
The win reinforces Barcelona’s position at the top of LaLiga and extends their unbeaten away league streak against Betis to 15 games — a run stretching back to March 2008.
