Inter Milan climbed — at least for now — to the top of the Serie A standings with a commanding 4–0 win over Como at San Siro, sealing a club-record 10th consecutive top-flight victory against the newly promoted side.

With just a single point separating the league’s top four before kickoff, this meeting carried extra weight. Como arrived in Milan sitting only three points behind Inter and looking to break into the title conversation, but the hosts wasted no time asserting their authority.

Inter nearly struck within the opening half-minute when Lautaro Martínez attempted an audacious lob that dropped onto the roof of the net. Moments later, the Argentine turned provider, sliding a pass into Nicolò Barella’s path, only for Jean Butez to smother the effort.

The breakthrough felt inevitable, and it arrived in the 11th minute. Luis Henrique surged past defenders down the left flank and calmly squared for Martínez, who pounced and fired home his 11th goal of the season in all competitions.

Como struggled to gain a foothold, managing just two off-target attempts before halftime, and their challenge worsened when Álvaro Morata was forced off with an injury.

The visitors returned from the interval with renewed intent and should have drawn level early in the second half. Jesús Rodríguez delivered a perfect cross to Anastasios Douvikas, but the forward squandered the chance from close range, skying the ball when an equaliser seemed certain.

That miss proved costly. Just before the hour mark, Marcus Thuram reacted quickest to Federico Dimarco’s corner, stabbing home his third goal in two games to give Inter a cushion. Dimarco later had a goal ruled out for offside, but the Nerazzurri continued to press, and Hakan Çalhanoğlu made it 3–0 with a superb strike from long range — his seventh of the campaign.

Inter were in full control by that point, and they capped off the night in style. Carlos Augusto drifted to the back post and volleyed Dimarco’s pinpoint cross into the net to complete the rout.

The emphatic victory — their seventh in nine matches across all competitions — sends Inter to the summit, while Como’s impressive 12-match unbeaten run comes to an abrupt halt.
