Conference League matchday 4: Key stats from every game as Hamrun Spartans make history

Thursday brought more historic moments in the UEFA Conference League as the second half of the league phase got underway. With matchday 4 now complete, here’s a standout stat from each of the ties:
Hamrun Spartans make history
- 14 – Hamrun Spartans recovered from a goal down against Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps to claim a 3-1 victory, marking their first points in the competition. Semir Smajlagic scored the winner 16 minutes from time. This was Hamrun’s 14th UEFA club competition win overall, and their ninth at home.

- 13 – Zrinjski Mostar returned to winning ways with a 2-1 home victory over BK Hacken. The Bosnian champions scored twice in four second-half minutes, bringing their all-time home league phase tally in the Conference League to 13 goals, scoring in every match.
- 4 – Mainz missed the chance to nearly secure a top-eight spot after losing 1-0 away to CS Universitatea Craiova. Assad Al Hamlawi’s penalty in the second half sealed the win for the Romanians, while Mainz suffered their fourth European away defeat, two of which came this season.
- 21 – Sigma Olomouc defeated previously-perfect Celje 2-1. Abubakar Ghali scored both goals for the Czech Cup winners, who registered 21 attempts despite having just 31% possession. They are now one point outside the top eight.

- 8 – Breidablik held Samsunspor 2-2 in Iceland, dropping the Turkish side’s perfect league-phase record. Breidablik have conceded eight goals against Turkish teams all-time.
