‘Devastated’ Parker calls on Burnley to stay united after late Brentford defeat

Burnley manager Scott Parker urged his players to stay united following a late 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday. All four goals came in the final 10 minutes, with Igor Thiago’s brace proving decisive for the hosts.
“We’re absolutely gutted. We fell just short again today,” Parker said after the match.
“There was nothing in the game in the first half. Brentford put us under pressure in the second half, but to get back into it at 1-1 and then concede so soon after scoring is incredibly disappointing. That was the biggest frustration for me. The game slipped away at that point, and we gave ourselves so much to do.”
Parker also reflected on areas for improvement: “There are elements of our game I liked again today, but we need to learn from the parts of our performance that were lacking and fix them. It’s a league of fine margins, and we’re learning that the hard way right now.”
Looking ahead, the Burnley boss emphasized resilience: “I knew what this journey would look like at the start of the season. We’ve got to reboot because we have another big game on Wednesday night. We stick together through thick and thin. That’s what this club is about.
“We’ll be judged at the end of the season. There’ll be tough moments like this, but there’ll also be better days. We’ll regroup and be ready for Wednesday.”
