Enemed Cup: Exiles Wellbees and Barracudas Claim Victories in High-Scoring Double Header
The latest round of Enemed Cup action delivered two exciting encounters, with Exiles Wellbees narrowly defeating Marsaskala, while Barracudas produced a confident win over Ta’ Xbiex Amigos.
Exiles Wellbees Edge Marsaskala 13–12 in a Thriller
Exiles Wellbees secured a dramatic 13–12 victory over Marsaskala in a fast-paced and fiercely contested match.
Marsaskala’s attack was led by Jamie Pace Mizzi, who delivered an exceptional four-goal performance. Captain Marco Mannino struck a hat-trick, while Cjay Saliba and Kieran Grech each added two goals. Nick Rizzo also contributed with a goal, keeping Marsaskala competitive until the final whistle.
Exiles responded with a balanced and decisive offensive display. Matteo Martelacci was their top scorer on three goals, while Mark Fenech, Francesco Scardino, Kyle Navarro, and Nathan Bonavia each netted twice. Additional goals from David Pace Lupi, Timmy Agius, and Myron Brimmer helped Exiles maintain the edge in key moments.
Frequent exclusions added to the intensity, but Exiles made better use of man-up situations to close out the match and claim the win.
Barracudas Overpower Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 13–7
In the second match of the day, Barracudas delivered a commanding 13–7 victory over Ta’ Xbiex Amigos, showcasing depth and attacking consistency.
Barracudas captain Andrew Magri marshalled his side confidently, while Marco Seminara impressed with a hat-trick. Strong support came from Charlie Bugeja, William Ruggier, Giulio Massa, and Liam Pursehouse, each scoring two goals. Jack Abela Meli and Giosue Spiteri added one goal apiece as Barracudas maintained control throughout the match.
Ta’ Xbiex Amigos battled bravely, with captain Julian Farrugia scoring two goals, and further contributions from Cody Cassar Bellante, Jack Zammit, Jan Culic, Zion Bartolo, and Caiden Busuttil, who each found the net once. Despite their efforts, Ta’ Xbiex struggled to contain the Barracudas’ quick transitions and organised attacks.
Exclusion moments featured prominently, particularly for Ta’ Xbiex, allowing Barracudas to capitalise and extend their lead.
