PSV Rescue Late Draw as Olympiacos Halt Winning Run

PSV Eindhoven avoided a second UEFA Champions League defeat of the season thanks to a dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser from Ricardo Pepi, salvaging a 1–1 draw against Olympiacos in Piraeus.
Fresh off a stunning 6–2 demolition of Serie A champions Napoli, PSV travelled to Greece hoping to extend their winning run to six games. But their evening at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium proved far more challenging than expected.
Olympiacos began on the front foot, with former Monaco winger Gelson Martins threatening early before giving the hosts a deserved lead in the 17th minute. The goal came just five minutes after Ismael Saibari had a PSV strike ruled out for offside — a moment that would later haunt the Dutch side.
Despite dominating possession, PSV offered little threat in attack during a disjointed first half. The home side looked sharper and came close to doubling their lead when Martins struck the crossbar and later missed narrowly from close range.
After the interval, PSV showed marginal improvement. Ivan Perišić’s low effort forced a rare save from Konstantinos Tzolakis, while substitutes Paul Wanner and Couhaib Driouech tested their luck from distance — though neither managed to register a meaningful effort on goal until late on.
It wasn’t until stoppage time that PSV finally found a breakthrough. Pepi latched onto a loose ball inside the box, and though Tzolakis got a hand to his shot, the American’s effort crept over the line to earn the visitors a hard-fought point.
The result extends PSV’s unbeaten streak in all competitions to nine matches, though it brings an end to their five-game winning run. Olympiacos, meanwhile, secured just their second point of the Champions League campaign, responding admirably after last week’s 6–1 loss to Barcelona.
