Atletico Madrid stretched their unbeaten LaLiga streak to 10 games with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sevilla at the Estadio Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

The first half started slowly, with few clear chances and little quality in the final third from either side. The game only sprang to life just before the half-hour mark when Alexander Sorloth found space in the box, but his effort was expertly saved by Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Atletico continued to build momentum, coming close again in the 37th minute as Nicolas Gonzalez’s hooked volley from close range struck the post after a perfect assist from Sorloth. Gonzalez had another golden chance on the stroke of halftime, but Vlachodimos produced a crucial save to keep the score level at 0-0.

The second half started quietly, but the match erupted around the hour mark when VAR awarded Atletico a penalty for a foul by Tanguy Nianzou that had been initially missed. Julian Alvarez stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner in the 64th minute to give the hosts the lead.

Atleti doubled their advantage in the 77th minute, courtesy of a slick move down the right from Giuliano Simeone. His precise cross found substitute Thiago Almada, who made no mistake in finishing. Antoine Griezmann had a chance to make it 3-0 soon after but squandered the opportunity.

The French forward made amends in the 90th minute, finishing neatly past Vlachodimos to cap off a dominant performance for Diego Simeone’s side.

The win keeps Atletico in fourth place in LaLiga and maintains their perfect home record this season. Sevilla, meanwhile, suffer a third consecutive league defeat and remain in 11th place.
