Spurs Fight to Secure Point in Thrilling Monaco Clash

AS Monaco dominated possession but were unable to break down Tottenham Hotspur, thanks to a man-of-the-match performance from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The UEFA Champions League clash ended 0-0, though Monaco remain unbeaten in the last three head-to-head encounters with Spurs (W2, D1).
Monaco came into the match following a 2-2 home draw against Manchester City, but the club had recently parted ways with head coach Adi Hütter. His successor, Sébastien Pocognoli, was aiming for a first win after his side’s 1-1 draw with Angers at the weekend.
After a slow start from both sides, Monaco began to assert themselves. Folarin Balogun was denied from a tight angle early on by Vicario. Spurs almost struck on the counter from a corner, but Ansu Fati stumbled before taking a shot. Balogun then had another chance after a clever link-up with Takumi Minamino, only for Vicario to race off his line and smother the ball.
Spurs finally registered their first shot on target in the 34th minute when Mohammed Kudus drove into the box, but Philipp Köhn was equal to his effort. Monaco’s best opportunity of the first half came shortly after when Mamadou Coulibaly set up Balogun, whose shot seemed destined for the bottom corner, only for Vicario to make a brilliant save with his feet.
The second half saw Monaco continue to press. Within five minutes, Maghnes Akliouche fired low at the near post, again denied by Vicario. Both coaches made changes around the hour mark, and Aleksandr Golovin nearly scored minutes after coming on, but Vicario was once more equal to the task. Later, Jordan Teze’s header was cleared off the line by the Spurs keeper, who proved unbeatable throughout the match.
Despite over 20 shots, Monaco could not find a breakthrough, and Spurs held on for a hard-earned point. The draw keeps Tottenham unbeaten in the Champions League (W1, D2), while Monaco remain without a win following two consecutive draws and a defeat on Matchday 1.
