Arsenal have reached a historic milestone, securing their 100th victory in the UEFA Champions League following their impressive triumph over Atletico Madrid. The win marks a new chapter in the club’s European legacy and cements their place among the most successful teams in the competition’s modern era, established in the 1992–93 season.

It was a night of celebration for Mikel Arteta’s side, highlighting the team’s excellent form this season. Arsenal’s journey in the Champions League began in the 1998–99 season, when they recorded two victories in the competition’s inaugural edition for the club.

Since then, the Gunners’ accumulation of wins has reflected both consistency and evolution on the European stage. The 2005–06 season saw Arsenal achieve eight victories, their best record until the 2024–25 campaign.

However, the following years were more challenging. Over the next 11 seasons, Arsenal struggled to maintain the same level of success, rarely exceeding five victories in a single campaign. After the 2016–17 season, the club spent six years outside Europe’s top competition, finally returning in 2023–24, where they recorded five wins.

Last season was particularly significant, as Arsenal set a new club record with nine Champions League victories under Arteta, although their campaign ended in the semi-finals against reigning champions PSG.

Throughout the years, several iconic players have helped shape Arsenal’s European legacy. Thierry Henry leads the club’s all-time list with 33 victories, followed by Cesc Fabregas, Robert Pires, and Fredrik Ljungberg, each with 28. Completing the top ten are Theo Walcott and Kolo Toure (27), Aaron Ramsey, Robin van Persie, and Emmanuel Eboue (26), and Mathieu Flamini and Patrick Vieira (24).

Reaching this European centenary reflects more than two decades of competitive effort and honors the generation that took Arsenal to the Champions League final in 2006. Since then, the club has continually reinvented itself, adapting to new stages under different coaches and with fresh generations of players.

This season, with a strong start in both the Premier League and Champions League, Arteta’s squad is firmly back on the international stage, aiming to lift the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
