Assikura Women’s League Set for Thrilling Return

The Assikura Women’s League resumes on Thursday, October 16, with a high-stakes clash between Hibernians and Birkirkara kicking off what promises to be another exciting week of action.
Currently sitting second in the standings, Hibernians are determined to maintain their strong momentum and keep the pressure on league leaders Mġarr United. The Paolites will once again rely on Sylvia Kabene, the dynamic Ugandan forward who made a dream debut last week with a stunning hat-trick against San Ġwann.
Birkirkara, meanwhile, trail by just three points and are eager to close the gap. The Stripes have found a new attacking spark in Momo Ueda, their Japanese striker who has already scored four goals since joining in the summer.
Elsewhere, Mġarr United will aim to continue their perfect run of form when they meet Valletta. The Greens, currently unbeaten and on course for a seventh consecutive win, have already recorded two impressive victories against defending champions Swieqi United this season. With Valeria Villegas—on five goals—leading the line, Mġarr will look to further cement their lead at the top.
Valletta, on the other hand, are still searching for their first win of the campaign, having collected just one point so far.
In the final fixture of the round, Swieqi United will be out to respond following their recent loss to Mġarr when they face San Ġwann. The Owls will once again turn to league top scorer Salamatu Abdulai, who currently leads the Golden Boot race with seven goals. San Ġwann, also on one point, will be hoping to produce a surprise against the former champions.
