Levante’s rising star Etta Eyong has caught the attention of Barcelona and Manchester City.

Etta Eyong has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in Spanish football. His move this summer from Villarreal to Levante took many by surprise, given the Cameroonian striker’s obvious potential. However, the transfer comes with a unique clause that could benefit both clubs if he continues his impressive start to the season.
Despite his proven goal-scoring record—19 goals for Villarreal’s reserve team last season—the Yellow Submarine allowed Eyong to leave. He had already featured in the first three LaLiga matches for Villarreal, scoring once, but the club decided to cash in on the high-profile signing of Mikautadze, letting Eyong move on.
Levante reportedly paid just €3.8 million for the striker on September 1, according to the club’s economic viability plan presented to shareholders. A bargain for a player who is now a starter for his national team and has already netted four goals in five LaLiga games for Levante, along with one assist.
Eyong’s market value has already skyrocketed to €20 million, according to Transfermarkt, and he has started attracting interest from European heavyweights such as Barcelona and Manchester City.
A Complex Deal Between Levante and Villarreal
As part of the transfer agreement, Levante must adhere to specific conditions. If an offer exceeding €15 million arrives, Levante is obliged to sell and share 20% of the capital gain with Villarreal. Should they decide to reject an offer, they would still need to compensate Villarreal with an equivalent share of the profit.
Additionally, Villarreal retains a right of first refusal, allowing them to match any offer next summer and buy Eyong back if they choose. The player’s release clause is set at €30 million—another bargain considering the form he has shown so far.
