Marsa St Michael’s extended their impressive early-season form in the MAFA League Division One with a narrow but deserved 1–0 victory over Valletta St Paul’s at the Marsaxlokk Ground.

The decisive moment came in the 17th minute, when Kato Yuto struck the only goal of the match, just days after Marsa lifted the Joe Compagno Cup.

In what was billed as a top-of-the-table encounter, Valletta St Paul’s matched Marsa for long spells, displaying strong organisation and determination. But Marsa’s disciplined defensive structure and compact shape frustrated Valletta’s attack, preserving their slender lead. The Valletta side pushed hard late on, but Marsa’s resilience ensured they walked away with all three points and another statement win.

The result cements Marsa’s reputation as one of the teams to beat this season, with a well-balanced squad capable of grinding out results under pressure.
