Għaxaq Wolves crowned MAFA champions

Għaxaq Wolves were crowned champions of the MAFA First Division on the final day of the season despite suffering a 1-0 defeat against San Ġiljan Saints at the Marsaxlokk ground.
The Saints needed a victory at all costs to secure their place in the top division and started the match strongly. In the 27th minute, following an attack down the left flank, Niall Dorman fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Lionel Martin to put the Saints ahead.
Despite sustained pressure from Għaxaq during the second half, the Saints’ defence stood firm and eventually secured three valuable points that guaranteed their survival.
At the end of the match, MAFA General Secretary David Abdilla presented the trophy to Għaxaq Wolves captain Josef Felice.
This was the fourth consecutive league title for Għaxaq Wolves, who in recent years climbed from the Third Division to the top tier while successfully defending their championship crown.
Peter Abela was the referee.
Meanwhile, San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy became the second team to be relegated to the Second Division after suffering a 4-3 defeat against Balluta Barracudas.
Despite earning their first victory of the season, Balluta Barracudas were also relegated.
Andrea Lorefice scored twice for the Cudas, while Mike Micallef and Gabriel Echanove added the other goals. Hissam Oubarrhou netted a brace for San Ġwann, with Loic Landry also finding the net.

Attard Edex Kings were crowned MAFA Second Division champions after defeating Birżebbuġa St Peter’s AFC 4-0 in the title decider.
The Attard side started strongly and took the lead in the 29th minute through Ikenna Gideon Okoro, giving them a 1-0 advantage at half-time.
The pattern of the match remained unchanged after the break, with Lucas Carvalho doubling the lead in the 37th minute before Luis Nestor Silva added a third goal.
Ikenna Gideon Okoro sealed the victory with his second goal a minute from time to make the final score 4-0.
Immediately after referee Gordon Barbara’s final whistle, Attard began their celebrations, which reached their climax when MAFA vice-president Mario Gauci presented the trophy to captain Gary Grant.
