SSC Napoli sealed qualification for the UEFA Champions League with a commanding 3-0 victory away at Pisa SC, who have now suffered eight consecutive defeats in Italy’s top flight.

The hosts arrived already relegated to the second tier, leaving Napoli to control the tempo as they pushed for a top-four finish.

Before kick-off, Pisa had scored just 18 non-penalty goals—the lowest tally among Europe’s top-five leagues this season—and their lack of cutting edge was evident throughout a one-sided first half dominated by the visitors.

Rasmus Højlund went close with a header, while Alisson Santos was denied by Adrián Semper, before Napoli took a deserved lead midway through the half when Scott McTominay converted Rasmus Højlund’s first-time lay-off into the bottom corner.

The visitors doubled their advantage shortly afterwards as Amir Rrahmani powered Eljif Elmas’s corner over the line despite the goalkeeper’s efforts, with Elmas continuing to cause problems and forcing a sharp fingertip save as half-time approached.

Pisa SC’s best opportunity came right at the end of the first half, but Alex Meret made a crucial intervention to deny Filip Stojilkovic inside the box.

After struggling to create any meaningful threat before the interval, Pisa SC began the second half with far greater intent. Filip Stojilkovic needed less than five minutes to force a save from Alex Meret, before Mehdi Léris headed over from the resulting corner.

However, Pisa’s improved start quickly faded, allowing SSC Napoli to regain control without having to heavily test the opposition goalkeeper. Scott McTominay later came close to putting the result beyond doubt with a header midway through the half, but sent his effort over the bar.

The victory was eventually confirmed in stoppage time when Rasmus Højlund reacted first to Pasquale Mazzocchi’s driven cross, stretching to turn the ball home and wrap up a comfortable win for Antonio Conte’s side.

The result guarantees Champions League football for Napoli, who hold a three-point advantage over AC Milan and AS Roma heading into the final round, with second place still within reach.

For Pisa, the defeat extends a poor run of form, with just one win from their last 26 Serie A matches, as they prepare to finish their campaign away to SS Lazio next weekend.
