Racing Santander secure historic LaLiga comeback by defeating Real Valladolid

Racing Santander confirmed their return to LaLiga for next season after securing an emphatic 4-1 victory over Real Valladolid at El Sardinero on Saturday.
With only two matches remaining, the former Spanish league founders sit seven points clear at the top of the Segunda División table, guaranteeing a finish in the automatic promotion spots.
While Deportivo de La Coruña still have a chance to overtake Santander for the title when they play on Monday, third-placed UD Almería are now out of contention after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to UD Las Palmas, conceding twice in the final 12 minutes.
Racing Santander last competed in LaLiga during the 2011-12 campaign, finishing at the foot of the standings before suffering another relegation to Spain’s third tier the following season.
The club came close to promotion last year after ending the Liga 2 season in fifth place, but their hopes were dashed following defeat in the playoff semi-finals.
