Gianluca Chetcuti Triumphs at the 2026 MSSF Trap Grand Prix
Gianluca Chetcuti delivered a commanding performance this past weekend to claim the gold medal at the MSSF Trap Grand Prix 2026. Held on Sunday, May 3, the event also served as the crucial fifth Trap Selection Shoot of the competitive season.
The Grand Final
After qualifying with a score of 112/125 and winning a tense shoot-off for bib positioning, Chetcuti carried his momentum into the final stages. He finished with a solid 43/50, outpacing silver medalist Emmanuel Bugeja (38/50) and Italy’s Simone Apostolico, who took home the bronze.

Challenge B and Class Winners
In the Challenge B category—a single-shot round of 25 targets for top shooters who missed the main final—Italy’s Andrea Chiavini took first place with 21/25, followed by Frank Scorfna and local legend William Chetcuti.
The competition also honored top performers across various divisions:
- Class A: Emmanuel Bugeja (113/125)
- Class B: Gordon Caruana (106/125)
- Class C: Frank Scorfna (96/125)
- Juniors (-21): Ryan Bugeja (108/125)
- Veterans (+65): Nazzareno Attard (102/125)

Special Awards
Individual excellence was recognized throughout the weekend, with Gianluca Chetcuti earning the “Best Shooter of Day 1” (69/75) and James Galea Jr. taking the “Best Shooter of Day 2” honors with a near-perfect 47/50.
