Senior Men’s National Water Polo Team: Initial Squad Selection Announced

Head Coach Milan Cirovic, alongside Assistant Coach Jonathan Valletta, has officially named the initial squad for the upcoming World Aquatics Men’s Water Polo World Cup 2026 – Division 2.
Malta is set to host this prestigious tournament between 7 April and 13 April 2026.
Initial Selection of Players
The following players have been called up to represent the national team:
- San Giljan: Jeremy Abela, Darren Zammit, Russell Caruana, Luigi Dimech
- Sliema: Zack Dzanovic (GK), Elijah Schembri, Sam Engerer, Benji Cachia, Jake Cachia, Julian Chircop
- Neptunes: Stevie Camilleri, Ivan Nagaev, Mark Castillo, Julian Valletta
- Sirens: Nicky Grixti (GK), Jerome Zerafa Gregory
- UC San Diego: Rhys Bugelli, Finn Bugelli
Training Schedule & Preparation
The selected squad will undergo intensive preparation sessions to gear up for the tournament.
- Preparation Period: 30 March 2026 – 6 April 2026
- First Training Session: 30 March 2026 at the Cottonera Pool Complex. Players are expected to be on-site by 17:30 hrs.
