Iga Swiatek Aims for Reset Following Surprise First-Round Defeat at Miami Open

Iga Swiatek has admitted she is looking to simplify her game after a surprising opening-round defeat at the Miami Open.
The Polish star suffered an unexpected early exit, falling short of expectations in a match where she struggled to find her usual rhythm and consistency.
Reflecting on the loss, Swiatek suggested that overcomplicating her approach may have contributed to the defeat, and she now intends to return to a more straightforward style of play.
The setback marks a rare early exit for the world-class player, who has been one of the most dominant figures on the WTA Tour in recent years.
Despite the disappointment, Swiatek remains focused on improving and resetting ahead of the upcoming tournaments, aiming to regain confidence and momentum in her game.
Iga Swiatek said she will return to work and focus on improving her game after a disappointing result, stressing the importance of taking positives from training sessions and finding solutions moving forward.
“I’ll just get back to work, try to get something positive out of the practices and try to figure it out,” she said.
Meanwhile, Magda Linette, 34, downplayed the significance of her win, saying she preferred not to create too much attention around it.
“I don’t like to make a fuss about it because there aren’t too many Polish players, so there’s a little more attention,” said Linette, who is set to face Alexandra Eala next.
She added that Iga Swiatek continues to set extremely high standards for Polish tennis players, often at a level that is difficult to match.
“I think it was an amazing win for me, it means so much at this stage of my career, but I don’t want to comment about it in a way that could put her down,” Linette said.
