Aston Villa winger Jadon Sancho expressed his delight after playing a part in his team’s Europa League victory over Lille OSC on Thursday.
Goals from John McGinn and Leon Bailey in the second half sealed a 3-0 aggregate win for Aston Villa in their round of 16 tie, sending them into the next stage of the competition in confident fashion.
Speaking after the match, Sancho described the experience as “a lovely feeling,” praising the atmosphere created by the fans and the team’s disciplined performance.
“Tonight has been incredible with the fans. We stuck to the game plan, that’s what we needed, and hopefully we keep that momentum into the Premier League,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of consistency in Europe, adding that Villa must take each match step by step in a demanding competition.
“This is a tough competition; Europe is very different. We worked hard on and off the ball, and if we keep doing this, I’m sure we can go very far,” Sancho added.
Aston Villa now turn their attention to the next round, buoyed by their strong performance and growing momentum in Europe.
