Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant overtook NBA legend Kobe Bryant for fifth place on the all-time list of 30-point games during Saturday’s matchup against the Miami Heat.

Durant, 37, scored 32 points in 37 minutes, hitting 12 of 20 shots (2-of-8 from three) to bring his career total to 432 games with at least 30 points. This season alone, he has reached the mark 23 times in 56 games.

He now trails Karl Malone (435) by just four games and would need 85 to surpass Wilt Chamberlain (516), 131 for Michael Jordan (562), and 144 to catch LeBron James.

Durant is averaging 26.2 points per game this season, nearly matching last year’s 26.6 with the Phoenix Suns.

The 16-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection, four-time scoring champion, and 2013–14 MVP is also sixth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 32,038 points, just 255 shy of passing Michael Jordan for fifth place.

Durant is under contract with the Rockets for one more year before becoming an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2028–29 season, when he will be 39.
