Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres calls Spurs rout the “Perfect Response” to critics

Viktor Gyokeres believes Arsenal’s 4-1 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur was the “perfect response” to critics questioning the Gunners’ title credentials.
Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze each scored twice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, just four days after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-of-the-table Wolves.
The draw at Molineux reignited doubts about Arsenal’s mental resilience, but Sunday’s victory restored confidence, leaving them five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
“It’s always going to be difficult when you get a result like we had at Wolves, but it’s how you handle that, and how you respond to it, and we showed that in a good way,” Gyokeres said.
“To get this result and this performance, it was the perfect way to respond. There’s a lot of games to go, but if we perform like this, it’s going to be good.”
With Arsenal avoiding the Champions League play-offs, they will enjoy a midweek break for the first time in over two months.
Pep Guardiola revealed that Manchester City will also be inactive until next weekend, joking that his players might enjoy a few cocktails during the week.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, responded with a grin:
“Cocktails? I don’t drink cocktails. So, no, we will do our own thing.”
