Torino sack head coach Baroni after heavy defeat to Genoa

Following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Torino have acted decisively, parting ways with head coach Marco Baroni and appointing Roberto D’Aversa as his successor.
The heavy loss proved to be the final straw for the Granata’s management, who felt an immediate change was necessary to arrest the club’s decline and inject fresh energy into the squad. Torino’s league position had become a growing concern, and the mood within the dressing room called for a strong signal from above.
After careful evaluation in the hours following the defeat, the club confirmed that Baroni would no longer lead the team, with D’Aversa identified as the ideal candidate to spearhead a turnaround.
The former Empoli coach, available since the end of the 2024/25 season, arrived in Turin on Monday to finalize the details of his appointment and begin work immediately.
An official announcement followed later in the afternoon. Torino’s clear objectives under D’Aversa are to restore unity, regain confidence, and start collecting crucial points as quickly as possible to revive their Serie A campaign.
