FC Bayern Munich confirm Alphonso Davies picked up muscle injury in win over Eintracht Frankfurt

Davies, who had only recently returned from a long-term knee injury, was forced off early in the second half after going down and requiring medical attention. The Canadian international was replaced by Hiroki Ito in the 50th minute.
In an official statement, Bayern said: “Alphonso Davies suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right hamstring in the 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. This was confirmed by FC Bayern’s medical unit. The defender will be sidelined for the time being.”
Although the club did not specify how long Davies will be out, head coach Vincent Kompany struck an optimistic tone after the match.
“It doesn’t look so bad,” Kompany told reporters. “I don’t know if it will be two or four weeks, but my gut feeling is that it won’t take that long.”
Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga standings with 60 points from 23 matches and are set to face second-placed Borussia Dortmund next Saturday.
