Axisa Eriksen completes challenging Winter Olympics debut in 10km skate

Malta’s cross-country skier Jenny Axisa Eriksen faced a difficult debut at the 2026 Winter Olympics, finishing toward the back of the field in the 10km skate race.
The 20-year-old athlete was among 111 participants tackling the grueling course. She ultimately placed 107th, navigating the distance in a time of 32:51.00. Her performance placed her ahead of Mexico’s Regina Martina Lorenzo, who finished in 34:05.00.
At the top of the standings, Sweden dominated the event to secure a one-two finish. Frida Karlsson claimed the gold medal with a blistering time of 22:49.20, followed by teammate Ebba Andersson (23:35.80) for silver. The podium was completed by American star Jessie Diggins, who took the bronze in 23:38.90.
While the result was a tough introduction to Olympic competition for the young Maltese skier, completing the race marks a significant milestone in her international career.
