Guy den Ouden secured a breakthrough at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, defeating Marton Fucsovics 7-6(5), 6-1 to become the third Dutch player to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The 23-year-old wild card, ranked world No. 169, was making only his second main-draw appearance in Rotterdam and his first ATP Tour match since June 2024, when he lost in the first round of the Zagreb Indoors to Enzo Couacaud. His first-round opponent this week, 49th-ranked and former Rotterdam finalist Fucsovics, proved a stern test.

Den Ouden showed resilience early, saving a service game before immediately breaking Fucsovics. Despite 33 unforced errors in the opening set and dropping his own serve late, Den Ouden fought off three set points in the tenth game and forced a tiebreak, where he battled back from a 0-2 deficit to take the first set.

The confidence from his opening set propelled Den Ouden in the second, racing to a 3-0 lead after saving a break point at 0-40. Fucsovics could only claim a single game as Den Ouden closed out the match on his third match point.

Meanwhile, Jesper de Jong, another Dutch contender, exited in the first round despite taking an early lead against Karen Khachanov. De Jong won the opening set 6-3 but dropped the next two 4-6, 5-7. After a spirited fight in the decider, including an early break, De Jong ultimately fell when Khachanov capitalized on a crucial double fault in the final game.

With De Jong eliminated, Den Ouden joins Tallon Griekspoor and Botic van de Zandschulp as the last remaining Dutch players in the ABN AMRO Open.
