Dominic Solanke scored twice, including a spectacular scorpion kick, to inspire Tottenham Hotspur to a remarkable 2-2 comeback against Manchester City, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side six points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Tottenham entered the game at a ground where their home record had been one of the worst in the division, and the opening exchanges reflected their struggle. The atmosphere was subdued, and Rayan Cherki broke the deadlock in the 11th minute.

Bernardo Silva intercepted Yves Bissouma in midfield and fed Erling Haaland, who played the ball across to Cherki. The Frenchman’s deflected right-footed finish beat Guglielmo Vicario to give City the lead.

Spurs showed little urgency early on, and Haaland nearly doubled the advantage with a deft lob that hit the roof of the net. Cherki continued to trouble the Spurs defence, but Vicario kept out another effort with a fine save.

City extended their lead just before half-time through Semenyo. Rodri intercepted a poor clearance from Radu Dragusin and set up the former Bournemouth striker to slot past Vicario. At 2-0 down, Spurs faced a daunting task.

After the break, Tottenham grew into the game. Destiny Udogie tested Gianluigi Donnarumma, who made a strong save, and Solanke finally halved the deficit. The striker held off Abdukodir Khusanov and powered a shot past Marc Guehi and Donnarumma.

The equaliser was a goal for the highlight reels. Solanke met Conor Gallagher’s cross with an audacious scorpion kick to complete Tottenham’s comeback, silencing critics and sending the home fans into raptures.

Wilson Odobert came close to putting Spurs ahead, while Donnarumma kept City in the game with fine stops, including tipping over a deflected strike from Simons. City also had a late chance through Tijjani Reijnders but could not find a winner.

The 2-2 draw extends Tottenham’s unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions, offering a morale boost as they remain 14th in the Premier League. For City, the dropped points, coupled with Aston Villa’s earlier defeat, made it a memorable day for Arsenal at the top of the table.
