Atalanta extended their strong run in Serie A with a convincing 4-0 victory over Parma at the New Balance Arena, remaining unbeaten in five league matches (W4, D1) and moving to within four points of the European places.
Eager to respond after their midweek UEFA Champions League disappointment against Athletic Club, La Dea started the match on the front foot and quickly imposed themselves on proceedings.
Their early pressure was rewarded after 15 minutes when Giacomo Raspadori was fouled inside the penalty area by Mandela Keita. Gianluca Scamacca stepped up and calmly converted the resulting spot-kick, sending his effort into the bottom-left corner.
Atalanta continued to dominate following the opener and doubled their advantage midway through the first half. Charles De Ketelaere burst into the box before cutting the ball back for Marten de Roon, who swept home his first league goal of the season with a composed finish.
Parma remained under sustained pressure for the rest of the half and were fortunate not to concede again before the break. Ederson came close to adding a third, but his effort drifted wide after pouncing on a loose ball in the area.
The second half began at a slower tempo, with Atalanta content to control possession and invite Parma forward. Despite seeing more of the ball, the visitors struggled to penetrate a well-organised home defence.
Raffaele Palladino’s side continued to look the more dangerous team and nearly extended their lead just after the hour mark, when Raspadori’s long-range strike was tipped over the crossbar by goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi.
The decisive third goal arrived in the 73rd minute. Nikola Krstović broke through Parma’s defensive line before squaring for Raspadori, who tapped into an empty net to score his first goal since joining from Atlético Madrid earlier this month.
Krstović added a fourth deep into stoppage time to complete a dominant display and seal all three points for Atalanta.
The result keeps La Dea firmly in contention for European qualification ahead of their next league trip to Como. Parma, meanwhile, remain 14th in the table and have now won just one of their last six matches.
