Tottenham manager Thomas Frank insisted on Thursday that the club is moving in “the right direction” as he looks to revive their Premier League campaign.

The Dane’s position was slightly eased by Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund, but anything less than a victory against relegation-threatened Burnley this weekend could again put him under scrutiny.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Frank highlighted the strong backing he has received from the club’s hierarchy.

“I know there’s a few questions about me, but it’s not about me,” said the 52-year-old. “It’s about me, the staff, the players, the club, and that needs to be aligned. That direction and alignment are very clear from ownership to the board. Everyone is on the same page, and there are a lot of things going in the right direction.”

Frank added that regular communication with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham helps keep operations running smoothly. “I have lunch with Vinai three times a week because it’s a good way to talk and get around all the small bits we need to do, especially with a busy schedule,” he said.

The Tottenham boss has faced vocal criticism from supporters, including chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning” following last week’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham, which left Spurs 14th in the Premier League table. The club has already been eliminated from both domestic cups, though the win over Dortmund secured their place in the Champions League play-off round.

Van de Ven a “Tottenham player”
Frank was also asked about the future of Dutch defender Micky van de Ven, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

“He seems happy in London,” Frank said. “He’s a fantastic player and a fantastic ambassador for this club. He may be having his best season yet, growing as a leader and becoming a big player for the future. Micky is a very important player for us — he’s a Tottenham player now and for the future.”
