Pisa’s reputation as Serie A’s draw specialists continued as they recorded their 11th stalemate of the season, holding Atalanta to a 1–1 draw at the Stadio Romeo Anconetani and ending the visitors’ run of three straight victories in all competitions.

The stadium had already witnessed three goalless draws this campaign, and the opening stages offered little indication this contest would be any different. Pisa enjoyed more territory in the final third but again struggled for cutting edge, reflecting a side that had scored just once at home prior to this match.

Midway through the first half, Idrissa Touré burst into the penalty area from the right but opted to shoot into the side netting rather than find teammates in better positions. Moments later, Pisa came closer when Michel Aebischer teed up Henrik Meister, only for the forward to fire straight at Marco Carnesecchi. Both players then failed to capitalise on the loose ball as Atalanta escaped.

Those chances proved the last meaningful action before the break. Atalanta offered little in attack, while Simone Scuffet remained untroubled in the Pisa goal, ensuring the sides were level at half-time for the ninth time in 11 home games for the hosts this season.

Pisa began the second half on the front foot and nearly broke the deadlock when Stefano Moreo’s header from a Matteo Tramoni corner forced a fine diving save from Carnesecchi.

Atalanta finally threatened in the 57th minute as Charles De Ketelaere wriggled free down the byline and cut the ball back for Giorgio Scalvini, whose low effort was brilliantly blocked by Scuffet’s outstretched boot.

With 15 minutes remaining, Gabriele Piccinini created space inside the Atalanta box and struck a deflected effort that Carnesecchi did well to turn away, preserving his bid for a fourth consecutive clean sheet.

That resilience appeared decisive eight minutes from time when Kamaldeen Sulemana’s low cross caused chaos in the Pisa area, allowing Nikola Krstović to stab home what seemed the winning goal.

However, Pisa found a dramatic late response. In the 87th minute, Mehdi Leris delivered an outstanding cross that Rafiu Durosinmi glanced into the bottom corner, sparking celebrations for only Pisa’s second home goal of the season.

Despite their long list of stalemates, this marked Pisa’s first scoring draw at home this campaign. For Atalanta, it was the 17th time this Serie A season that the half-time scoreline was repeated at full-time.
