Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has undergone surgery on his right hamstring after sustaining an injury during last week’s 3-2 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth.

British media reports suggest the Uruguayan could be sidelined for around three months.

Spurs are already dealing with injuries to key players, including attacking midfielder James Maddison, who is out with an ACL tear, and fellow midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who was injured in the Bournemouth match and missed the weekend’s 2-1 FA Cup loss to Aston Villa.

“We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has undergone surgery on his right hamstring and will now commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff,” Tottenham announced on X on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, media reports indicate Spurs are in discussions to sign England midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, as they aim to strengthen their squad in pursuit of a top-eight finish in the Champions League, which would secure direct qualification to the last 16.

Tottenham, currently a point behind eighth-placed Atletico in the European competition, face crucial fixtures against Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt this month. In the Premier League, the London club sit 14th and will host West Ham United on Saturday.
