Gobert hits sixth flagrant foul, will miss next Timberwolves game

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert has been suspended for one game after receiving his sixth flagrant foul of the season, the NBA announced on Monday.
Gobert committed the latest foul in the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s 104-103 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. Game officials determined that the French center did not give Spurs star Victor Wembanyama enough space to land safely after a three-point attempt.
Speaking to local media after the game, Gobert insisted the foul was unintentional. “It’s tough, because I try to contest shots in the heat of the moment,” he told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “I don’t think there’s any intention of getting anybody hurt or putting people in dangerous situations. It’s tough, but you’ve got to play through it.”
The 33-year-old will serve his suspension on Tuesday when the Timberwolves face the Milwaukee Bucks on the road.
