Zambia and Comoros played out a goalless draw in their second Group A match at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), leaving both nations winless and frustrated.

The match, played amid a lively atmosphere in Casablanca, saw Comoros come close early on. In the sixth minute, a corner led to a Myziane Maolida effort being blocked on the line, denying the visitors a quick breakthrough.

Both sides showed attacking intent, though chances were limited. Comoros appeared to score when Rafiki Said set up Maolida for an easy finish, but the goal was ruled out after Yacine Bourhane was penalised for a foul in the build-up.

Zambia grew into the game, using long-throw routines to test the Comorian defence. Their closest effort came from Kings Kangwa, who fired just over the bar from distance.

The second half remained cagey, with few clear-cut opportunities. Comoros had a chance in the 81st minute as Faiz Selemani met a teasing cross but headed over. Despite several substitutions on both sides, neither team could break the deadlock, with the second half producing just 0.20 expected goals collectively.

The draw suits Zambia slightly more, who had drawn their opening match against Mali. They now face tournament favourites Morocco in their final group game, likely leaving them reliant on other results to progress.

Comoros will aim to build on this point when they face Mali, hoping to secure a place in the AFCON knockout stages for only the second time in their history. The final Group A fixtures will ultimately decide which team advances.
