Xagħra United and Qala Saints claim important wins in Gozo League

Xagħra United and Qala Saints registered important victories in Matchday 15 of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League First Division on Sunday at the Gozo Stadium.
Xagħra United produced a strong performance to defeat Għajnsielem 4–1. They took the lead after just six minutes when Yousouf Abedi, known as Rodo, opened the scoring.
Għajnsielem responded in the 20th minute through Jhon Alejandro Gonzalez, who levelled matters to leave the sides tied at the break.
Xagħra regained the lead early in the second half when Ibrahim Salis converted a penalty in the 51st minute. Marlon Mamo extended the advantage on 67 minutes before Abedi sealed the victory with his second goal of the match six minutes later.
In the other match, Qala Saints secured a late 1–0 win over Xewkija Tigers. The game appeared destined for a draw until the closing stages.
Xewkija were reduced to ten men in the 88th minute when Brian Alejandro Parada was sent off. Qala capitalised on the numerical advantage and in stoppage time Gabriel Cardona scored the decisive goal to hand his side all three points.
Following these results, Kercem Ajax remain top of the standings with 32 points, followed by Xewkija Tigers on 25. Għajnsielem remain third with 24 points, just ahead of Qala Saints on 23. SK Victoria Wanderers have 11 points, while Xagħra United move to eight points, with Nadur Youngsters on five.
