Victoria Hotspurs have intensified the title race in the BOV Amateur League I, moving to within just two points of league leaders Attard following a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Zejtun Corinthians at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Wednesday.

The decisive moment of the match arrived in the 22nd minute when Christian Saint Ebisindor found the back of the net. His goal proved to be the difference-maker, securing three vital points for the Gozitan side as they pressure the summit of the table.

This result leaves the promotion battle finely poised. Attard currently maintains the top spot with 40 points, but Victoria Hotspurs are now breathing down their necks with 38 points. They are closely followed by Lija (36) and Qormi (34) in what is becoming a crowded race for the upper echelons of the standings.

Further down the table, Mqabba sits in fifth with 30 points, ahead of Qrendi (25) and San Gwann (22). Following their defeat, Zejtun Corinthians remains on 19 points, just ahead of Pembroke and Xghajra, who both sit on 18. The lower half of the league is rounded out by Senglea (16), Mellieha (15), and Kirkop and Luqa, who are currently tied at the bottom with 14 points each.
