Valletta, Swieqi ZSP Among Big Winners at Malta FA BNF Awards Night

The Malta Football Association hosted the BNF Awards Night for the 2025/26 season on Wednesday, 13 May, at the National Football Centre in Ta’ Qali, celebrating the achievements of teams and individual players following another competitive youth football campaign.
The event brought together representatives from participating clubs, officials from sponsors BNF Bank plc, Malta FA Senior Vice President Dr Matthew Paris, Vice Presidents Adrian Casha and Ing. Trustin Farrugia Cann, as well as Malta FA General Secretary Dr Maria Azzopardi. Coaches from the Malta FA Technical Centre were also in attendance.
During the evening, awards and certificates were presented across several categories, including participation certificates for teams competing in the BNF Under-14 Leagues, Top Scorer honours in the Under-15, Under-17 and Women’s Under-16 competitions, Fair Play awards, league titles, and recognition for promoted teams.
Opening the ceremony, Dr Paris underlined the importance of youth competitions in the long-term development of players.
“Tonight we celebrate the winners and outstanding performers of the season across both boys’ and girls’ football. While success and honours are important, these competitions are primarily focused on development. The greatest priority should not be on today’s result, but the long-term development of players for the future,” he said.
The awards night marked the conclusion of a season characterised by strong competition across all categories, with several league titles decided in the closing stages of the campaign. Beyond the results, the competitions continue to play a key role in nurturing the next generation of Maltese football talent.
The Malta FA also expressed its appreciation to BNF Bank plc for its ongoing support and sponsorship of the competitions.
Among the main honours presented on the night were league titles for Valletta FC, Balzan FC, Qormi FC, Mtarfa FC, Pietà Hotspurs FC, Hibernians FC, Rabat Ajax FC, Attard FC, and Swieqi ZSP across the various youth categories. Individual recognition was also given to top scorers from the Under-15, Under-17 and Women’s Under-16 leagues, while Fair Play awards went to Żejtun Corinthians FC and Hibernians FC.
